remarks
ballast XV1-14 / XV1-28
The ballast comes either in 12 VDC (XV1-14) or 24 VDC (XV1-28)
The ballast has to be used in combination with D1S bulbs
Operating temperature: -40 C + 85 C
Storage temperature: -40 C +100 C
Weight: 400 gr
Dimensions (mm)

compliances:
The ballast is encased in a Al metal box and fully potted in epoxy. The connectors are sealed with a silicone seal. Therefore the ballast has very good humidity resistance characteristics. Seal integrity according to IP 54
If a shielded cable will be used between the ballast and the lamp (we offer this for an additional fee), it will be class 5 EMC complies to CISPR-25 class 3
These are not MIL specs, but the highest automotive standards (which are possibly higher than aviation standards) including EMI/RFI. This cable length should be less then 3 ft as delivered with the kit. The existing wiring in the a/c can be used and connected to the pigtail provided. No shielding is necessary for the power supply wires.
The maximum impedance of the lead wire from the battery or power supply to the ballast is 50 milli-Ohms including CB and connector resistance.
To assure proper starting characteristics, the maximum distance between the ballast and the D1S bulb is 3 m (9 feet). Note: EMC may vary with different cable length. For optimum performance the shortest possible cable length is highly recommended.
Ballast input/output connectors:

Supply voltage ratings (VDC):
Nominal voltage 12 or 24
Rated voltage 12.8 or 26.4
Operating voltage 9 - 16 or 18 to 32
Under lockout voltage < 6 or < 12
Over lockout voltage >16 or >32
Over voltage (1 min) 24 or 36
Reverse polarity protection yes
Supply current ratings (A):
(at ambient temp and rated supply V)
0-5 msec: < 100 or < 100
up to 5 sec: <20 or < 20
in steady state: <4 or <2
Circuit protection:
20A or 10A slow blow fuse or CB must be added in series with the ballast to protect the circuit for any end of life conditions of the ballast

circuit protection diagram
Output shutdown characteristics:
The ballast operation is stopped within 1 second of an open circuit or short circuit occurs between the ballast and the D1S bulb.
